nostalgic accessories

email today, 400 hits since 9/10/2008... yup.. still average of 23.53 hits per day... wow

but anyway, yesterday had iftar at NTU (im watiting for their pics too.. haha.. im in everyone's camera)

shared a dulang with a Ghanaian, Thai and Indonesian... eating mutton briyani

the indonesian was saying how her wife like to cook briyani, to which the Ghanaian asked, whether his wife was an indian ke tak.. lol

he said, his wife is an Indonesian, and women from java learned to cook since when they were young... (she know's how to cook italian, indian dan berbagai2 jenis cuisines la).. the thai and ghanaian also said that it was the same thing back in their countries, 10 tahun can take care of the food for the whole family

i was saying, in Singapore, it's hard to find a singaporean girl who knows how to cook, i even say that some mothers discourage their girls to go inside the kitchen pun

the Ghanaian commented, he heard about that, but at first he thought that it was a joke... untill he heard about it many2 times.. he say women not knowing how to cook anymore is a step-backwards in society

so i say la, in Singapore, parents encourage their children to concentrate more on education and hopefully get a good career...

and the Indonesian said, he's 24 by the way, that his wife.. yang tahu masak macham2 cuisine.. AND da ada satu anak, is a lecturer.... so learning to cook and doing well academically is NIT mutually exclusive...

haha.. but if u hear his story, it's like Ayat-ayat cinta... after completing his bachelor's he just said to his ustad, he wants to marry... then pooof... he only jumpa his wife 3 jam je seblum kahwin..

but anyway, i just wanna say satu benda ni aje la... i have experienced, living in singapore with only my elder brother (when he was still unmarried) WITHOUT my parents (they were staying at my sister's place).. and both of us tak tahu masak...

to me, it was like.. no food at home.. cham takde reason nak balik pun.. kat luar leh just beli makanan.. and can lepak je mana2 (especially coz im a guy)

now that im staying with my parents.. i can say that, i go back home just to eat...

so.. future wives kindly ponder upon that...

if all else fails... singapore banyak kedai kopi pe...

let's see how kepala batu i am...
